DMC Moto Trainer

Wednesday, November 28th, 2007

Gravity Slaves posted up this review of a DMC moto trainer watch that lets you time yourself and increment in laps.  While it might not be the cheapest stopwatch, the principles still remain.  If you use a stopwatch in your training / rides, you will get faster.

I’ve been using a £24 casio digital watch strapped to my handlebars for several months. It has a large easy to press start/stop button on the front face rather than on the side so it performs the same function as the watch in this article except that you can go out to any high street Ratners and buy it now. I use a narow strip of foam to pad out the handlebar and place it between my grip and thumbie/brake lever (I run my levers quite far in).

Hi Greg - Yup, there are lots of solutions to getting a time of your run. I’ve used a butchered stopwatch in the past with a DIY hotwired remote thumb switch, which was pretty cool. They all work - but not every timer let’s you easily record, review and compare split times like this one does. You pays yer money, you takes yer choice as they say!

Oh, any why head to the High Street when you can buy one from the comfort of your keyboard and it’ll be with you tomorrow? ;)

Phil pretty much sums it up. Its not cheap, but it does save you time over a hotwired setup and since the button is on the face plate (unlike most stopwatches) its a lot easier to hit.
