, Final Bell Built Trail Grant Winners – East and Central Region

Bell has announced the final winner of their 2014 Bell Built Trail Grant. Check out the East Coast winner inside and learn more about the locations chosen for the 2014 IMBA/Bell grant.

With 13,896 votes being accumulated in the last two weeks, the Richmond Regional Ride Center in Richmond, VA, will take home the final slot as the winner of the East region.

The Richmond Regional Ride Center, headed up by RVA MORE, will split the $100,000 in grant money with the two other regional winners (Ft. Tuthill Bike Park in Flagstaff, AZ, and the Cottage Grove Bike Park in Cottage Grove, MN). With help from both Bell Helmets and those at IMBA, this grant money will help secure the funding to rehabilitate 15 miles of existing mountain bike trail and construct an additional 20 miles of trail. Their goal is to incorporate approximately 15 miles of stacked-loop singletrack, and an additional 5 miles of flow trail, which will focus on a progression of difficulty. The project will also focus on improving the existing trails on-site to diversity trails and depth of experience, along with developing a new gateway trail with two loops for novices, children, handcycles and bicycles pulling child-trailers.

The Cottage Grove Bike Park sits on three acres of land within a residential park in Cottage Grove, MN, a suburb of Minneapolis/St. Paul. The final vision of the park will contain a 4X race track, two pump tracks, a tot track, slopestyle course, mountain bike skills course and dirt jumps. We plan to have the park completed by 2016.
