Teva is working on a new shoe called the Virgin for 2014. Designed as a DH shoe they’re aiming to add a few features for the gravity athlete by using a sticky spider rubber sole, raised ankle protection, a sturdy sole, and a variety of other features as well. The shoe takes a lot of design and features from the Links shoe as you can see by the shockpad and heel stabilizer but with a DH focus.
The Virgin was locked up (imagine that) in a case but you can get a sense of what to expect. The smooth outer surface should help keep mud and debris off the shoe in addition to making it easier to clean.
Teva also had on display their other shoe’s like the Teva clipless shoe, the Teva Links, and many other clean options. Learn more about the Teva range at teva.com
Formula has a few new offering for 2014 that we also took a look at. On the brake side of things, they have a new brake called the R1 Racing and the C1.
The R1 Racing is a lightweight high-end race brake that has a revamped lever design to be a bit more ergonomic as well as giving riders with smaller hands an easier brake to use.
The C1 is a brake that packs a lot of features in an affordable package.
Their 2014 brake lineup continues to implement similar techniques and uniformity through pads, increased pad rollback to provide better rub-free operation, and more.
On the fork side of things, Formula has the air sprung ThirtyFive. It’s got a lot of features like adjustable lockout, compression adjust, rebound, a neat 15mm QR system, and more. They’ve got models for 27.5 and 29″ with travel ranging from 100mm – 140mm (29er) and 100mm – 160mm (27.5).
Stop, Drop, and Roll is the new Formula mantra for Formula.
The THIRTYFIVE fork drops onto the trail with a new self cointained damping cartridge.
In the shop the *THIRTYFIVE*’s cartridge system is serviceable without the need to remove the fork from the bike making routine maintenance quick and easy.
On the trail the Satellite Switch Adjustment (S.S.A.) keeps your controls in one place making for easy on the fly tuning of compression, lockout and lockout threshold. With the perfect travel options, rebound and an air spring round out the *THIRTYFIVE*’s adjustments.
