At the top of the food chain is the S-Works Demo 8. Featuring a carbon front triangle and the Ohlins TTX rear shock. Ohlins partnered with Specialized exclusively to offer the TTX shock on select Demo 8 completes (Demo 8 S-Works and Demo 8 II (aluminum)) as well as Demo 8 framesets. Cable routing has also been revised and will run along the top tube of the 2014 Demo 8’s that you can see below.
Demo 8 S-Works
The new Ohlins TTX shock uses their twin tube design and has external low speed compression, high speed compression, and low speed rebound adjustment. The front shock mount utilizes a spherical bearing to help allow the shock to perform in extreme situations as the shock loads and unloads to compensate for shaft binding that can occur.
Ohlins TTX shock
Specialized and Ohlins partnered to deliver this shock specifically for the Demo 8. Their goal was to provide a stellar shock on the Demo 8 that allowed riders to quickly get the correct settings so the adjustment range is specifically tuned for the Demo 8. The blue dial (Low Speed Compession) and has 16 clicks. The black high Speed Compression knob has 3 clicks. The rebound knob (7 clicks) is easily accessible from the drive-side of the bike. If you’ve got a 2012-2014 Demo 8, you also have the ability to purchase this Ohlins shock for your bike at a Specialized dealer.

Custom 7spd cassette
The Demo 8 S-Works has a custom 7 speed drivetrain setup that is pretty trick. It allows riders to run a much smaller 32t chainring (more ground clearance) since the 7 speed cassette has a custom range of 9t-20t range. The micro drive setup also trickles over to the aluminum Demo 8 II model. This includes a 135mm rear wheel spaced bike that gives riders more clearance as well in comparison to 150mm wheel’d bikes.
