SCOTTS VALLEY, Calif. (February 21, 2018) – Bell Helmets announces the return of Aaron Gwin, one of the world’s best downhill mountain bikers to the Bell family. The 8-time U.S. national champion and 5-time UCI Downhill World Cup overall champion leads the way as Bell goes big in mountain biking for 2018, supporting the dynamic sport’s top professional athletes.

“We are very excited to have Aaron back in Bell,” Austin Rojas, Bell Sports Marketing Manager said. “Aaron is not only an exceptional athlete with the results to prove it but is also very involved in helmet innovation and design and we’re looking forward to pushing boundaries with him once again.”

Gwin became the first American ever to win a UCI World Cup Overall Title and the first man to win five World Cup Downhill races in one season. He starts the 2018 season with a total of 19 UCI Downhill World Cup wins to his name but is nowhere near finished. Wearing Bell’s Full-9 downhill helmet, Gwin enters the season with eyes on Greg Minaar’s record of the most UCI Downhill World Cup wins and is focused on the one race he has yet to win: The World Championships.

“It feels good to be back in Bell Helmets. The comfort of Bell helmets stands out most to
me,” Gwin shared. “I spend a lot of time in helmets, so to have a helmet that is safe and
comfortable is really important. I’ve been training in Bell’s Sixer helmet for about a month
now and the feeling is the same thing as my downhill helmet: it’s really comfortable, it’s got
some cool safety features on it and I like the way it looks.”

Gwin started racing bikes at a very early age with BMX before trying his hand at motocross. Injuries from motorcycle racing pushed him back onto the bike, but this time into downhill mountain biking. Gwin’s experience and knowledge on the moto and downhill bike have proven invaluable with his input in helping develop Bell’s top mountain bike helmet, the Full-9.

“I had a lot of input in the Full-9 mountain bike helmet development. It’s comfortable and safe and it looks really cool. It has everything that I like in a helmet,” noted Gwin.

Gwin kicks off the UCI Downhill season this April in Losinj, Croatia wearing his custom painted Full-9.
