If you’re looking for a fun 120mm travel trail bike, the 2015 carbon Salsa Cycles Horsethief might pique your interest.
The Horsethief gets carbon fiber for 2015 and after quick spin on it, this bike has some potential. The geometry on it seems to gel with what we like out of trail bikes and Pete explaims some of the highlights in the video below.

The Horsethief is a 29er, features 120mm of travel, and utilizes Dave Weagle’s Split Pivot. The bike feels progressive in the rear and has a playful feel to it that should really shine on the trail. The rear shock is driven off of a bearing system as well to keep the sensitivity on this bike smooth as well.
Salsa’s typically aren’t on our radar but this one is definitely worth a closer look at. THe Horsetheif is available in 4 sizes and if you’re a taller rider the geometry is quite nice on the XL.
The Horsetheif is available in a few trim options. The Horsetheif Carbon 1 that you see here is one build but there are a few others including an XTR one.
