Hope and DT Swiss have been in the bike business for quite some time now and their products reflect their wisdom in the market quite well. Hope has put together quite an impressive hub in the Pro II version that challenges many top name brand hubs in terms of reliability, ease of service, and weight. Likewise, DT Swiss has put together quite an impressive rim in the 5.1D. Its 21mm inner diameter rim provides a very nice base for just about any aggressive sized tire. In addition to that, it’s a welded rim, and is quite durable considering its weight. To lace these parts together, we used DT Swiss Supercomp spokes and brass nipples.
In this review we’ll take a look at the combination of these parts and see how well they held up, our thoughts on their design, and how well they work as a downhill wheelset setup.
