Jonas showed us the new e.thirteen guides and they look quite good. They’ve fully revised their LG1 and SRS chain guides. Release is slated for the first quarter in 2009 on these guides. The Staccato pedals are slated for a second quarter release 2009. They’re updating the internals a bit we’re told in the aim for perfection.

2009 marks a lot of changes for e.thirteen as they’ve brought out some new guides that they’ll have ready by next season!

The new SRS guide will feature less SKU’s (distributors rejoice), and offer less hassle during setup as the guides have become much more compatible without the need for multiple backplates. This is just the beginning check out the feature list below.

  • Adjustable backplates offer standard, wide, and extra wide configurations all in one

  • Lots of weight saving features such as CNC cutout pockets and a trus type design
  • The backplate width has been increased from 4mil to 5mil for increased strength
  • The sliders have a honeycombed design for lower weight while increasing strength

  • The sliders are no longer adjustable for easier installation with two sizes available for the SRS (32t-36t or 36t-40t)
  • Tapers on the wearplates are the exact same as the older guides

  • The bashguard now has a smaller diameter with two crank arm recesses
  • The bashguard is tapered, hollowed, and designed to flex
  • Available in 32-36t range and 36t – 40t

  • Aluminum inserts added at the factory to avoid overtightening of the bashguard bolts.

  • 3 adjustable positions on the direct mount bash

  • Use alloy hardware
  • Markings for the chainring slider on the upper slider 32t / 34t / 36t on the LG.1
  • Recessed captive hardware (can be removed) and the bolts don’t fall out of the backplate

  • Honeycombed to save weight and increase the stiffness

  • Machined in just about every place to save weight while still delivering a stronger guide.
  • Specific to the LG1, it features a much smaller form factor that is 2/3 the size of the current LG.1 slider
  • Can accept down to a 32t chainring.
  • The bashguard is 13 milimeters thick and tapers in both directions foward / backward.

  • The LG.1’s upper slider is stiffer than the current LG1
  • Specific to the LG.1, the upper slider is a single bolt design and features a riveted upper slider that rotates up and out easily to change chainrings or chain. No more lobbing off the top of the boomerang for easy removal.

Price:

The pricing will remain the same at an MSRP of $150 for the LG.1 / SRS. e.thirteen will also make stamped guides similar to the current style of e.thirteen guides (LG.1 and SRS) enabling a lower price for those looking for a more cost effective guide but the same e.13 retention.
