Smith had a few new color ways of their recently released Forefront 2 helmet. We were huge fans of the original Forefront and it saved my bacon on more than a few occasions. If you’re looking for a color other than black, white or grey, the new colors should be arriving in the next few months.
Smith was also showing off their new Wildcat glasses. Featuring a large, full coverage, interchangeable lens and semi-wrap frame, these glasses make a statement. Go for the retro pink and yellow if you really want to stand out.
Dakine had quite a bit of new kit on display but what really caught my eye is their new gear bag. The bag features a changing pad to kick off your wet/muddy riding gear and then the changing pad and gear stow in a compartment separate from the rest of your dry, clean gear in the bag. Genius. Surfers have been using changing pads for wetsuits forever, I’m stoked to see this concept making its way into the MTB world.
Hydrapak has introduced a line of insulated bladders to keep your drink cold on those hot summer rides. The folks at Hydrapak had an interesting tip to avoid mold forming in your bladder and hose. Between rides, store your bladder in the freezer. When you’re ready to ride, pull it out and fill it up with water which will instantly defrost the bladder. Not sure why I never thought of that.
