Back in 2009, I was hitching a ride with the Yeti team truck from the US Nationals at Mount Snow, Vermont, six hours north to the Canadian round of the World Cup Downhill at Mont Sainte Anne. Sprawled out in the back seat was a quiet, red-haired racer named Aaron Gwin. “Keep an eye on this guy,” said friend and Yeti mechanic Patrik Zuest. “He’s gonna go places.”
