Troy Lee Designs has new A1 and D3 helmets featuring MIPS technology. Check out the details inside from TLD.
Troy Lee Designs is proud to announce that our award winning line of trail A1 helmets and full-face BMX/Gravity D3 helmets are now available in a select range of revolutionary new helmet technology called Multi-Directional Impact Protection System (MIPS). We have painstakingly tested many types of rotational impact protection devices and our design and innovation team discovered that the MIPS system ranked highest.
MIPS
PATENTED BRAIN PROTECTION SYSTEM
MIPS stands for Multi-directional Impact Protection System, it is a revolutionary technology that lets the helmet slide relative to the head, adding more protection against rotational violence to the brain caused by angled impacts.
With our MIPS helmet systems, the helmet shell and liner are separated by a reduced friction layer that was developed to reduce the rotational violence to the brain when receiving angled impact/crashes, because most crashes come at many angles this is the key to protecting your brain. This MIPS layer that surrounds your head rotates independently by redirecting crash impact energy. This protection system, combined with our award winning best in class helmets makes for a whole new winning combination.
The new A1 MIPS and D3 MIPS are available online now through Troy Lee Designs.
For the new line of D3 MIPS helmets we created a special collection of graphics, 3 colors of the new RENDER graphic in carbon fiber, the RAVAGE in composite and a matte black carbon called MIDNIGHT.
For the new line of A1 MIPS helmets there is a whole new graphic design specific to our MIPS addition, called VERTIGO which is available in 5 colors (and the DRONE model).
