The UCI DHI World Cup makes its sixth stop this year in Windham, NY. There will be lots of action to watch on the UCI World Cup downhill course and there are races for the public to enter and compete in for Downhill and Cross Country. Volunteers are also welcomed.

Top cyclists from around the world return once again to Windham, N.Y. on August 6-9 for the 2015 UCI Mountain Bike World Cup presented by Shimano.

In addition to the elite UCI XCO and DHI races, there is a full schedule of community events including Ride the Plank, an indoor/outdoor expo, a block party in downtown Windham, a concert, fireworks, night ride, a kids’ fun race, Team FMX, and the opportunity to check out the newly opened Windham Mountain Bike Park.

Professional and amateur cyclists are invited to race against the best athletes in the country in Kenda’s Race the World cross country (XC) and the Fox Shox Race the World downhill (DH)

Thursday, August 6
The Windham World Cup Festival activities kick off with the Ride the Plank Challenge at 7 pm, Riders will try to cross a pond by balancing on wooden planks floating on inner tubes. Prizes will be awarded for various categories including shortest distance, longest distance, best wipe out and more.

Friday, August 7
From 8:00 -11:00 pm, Main Street in Windham will come alive with the Block Party, organized by the Windham Area Chamber of Commerce. Visitors can enjoy food and drink specials, including beer from event sponsor Oskar Blues. Family-friendly activities include stunt bike demonstrations, music by WyldBlu, the mechanical bull ride, a magic show with Sean Doolan Magician Extraordinaire, fun with Christine Doolan the Balloon Wizard, a fire stunt performer show with Lyca On Fire, and the latest mountain bike movie on a huge outdoor screen.

Saturday, August 8
Kenda Race the World Cross Country (XC) begins at 7:30am and is open to amateur racers (online registration ends Thursday, August 6 at 8:00 PM ET). There is a $35/45/50 fee depending on category. Race the World is again part of the New York State MTB series (www.NYSMTBseries.com) and is also part of the Root 66 series (www.root66raceseries.com). At 5:00 pm, the littlest racers get their shot with the GNH Lumber Kids’ Race. Every child who participates will receive a t-shirt. To register, visit https://www.bikereg.com/windham-world-cup-race-the-world-nysmtbroot-66-series.

From 6:00 – 7:00 pm, Team FMX will wow the crowd with a freestyle motocross motorcycle stunt show.

At 8:00 pm, the lift-serviced NightRider Night Ride will take riders up the mountain to experience Windham Mountain by starlight (and safety lights) and watch the fireworks from the best seat on the mountain! Registration is $10; sign-up during the weekend at the Registration area (second floor of the Lodge, mountain-side) and a credit card required as deposit for light to be picked up at NiteRider Expo booth.

Visitor can cap off the evening with a fireworks show and the band, Poppy’s Suitcase, plays on the Windham Mountain Resort Lodge patio.

Sunday, August 9
The Fox Shox Race the World Downhill (DH) will take place on Sunday at 10:30am. It is $85/90 to participate. (Online registration ends Wednesday, August 5 at 8:00 PM ET).
