“It’s a new dawn, it’s a new age”, says Fred Heinly of Hyline Productions. “We have done the previously unthinkable by bringing together the two largest downhill mountain bike racing series in the United States for our big event. The Duryea Downhill will be contested for the tenth time this season and we are adding new features while keeping the famous Road Gap and Bunker Gap. We are really excited to be the first race that East Coast racers can earn series points from the GES and the ESC.”

The Duryea Downhill brings the action to the masses, instead of being held at a ski resort it is contested within the Reading, PA city limits. Racers will be transported to the start in shuttle trucks Saturday and Sunday for practice, with the big race being held Sunday at 1pm.

“The POC Eastern States Cup is really thrilled to be part of the Duryea Downhill and working with the Maxxis Gravity East Series. The Duryea DH is the most unique downhill race in the country and it’s a great chance at some early season racing. This is the first race of our new Atlantic DH Cup Division and an awesome opportunity for east coast racers to score points in both series.” says George Ulmer from the POC ESC.

“The Maxxis Tires Gravity East Series is very excited to continue it’s partnership with Hyline Productions and enter into a new partnership with the Eastern States Cup in the presentation of the 2014 Duryea Downhill” said Joe Olivas, race director of the 2014 Maxxis Tires Gravity East Series. “By bringing together the two powerhouses, we hope to continue a spirit of comraderie and competition for all riders in both series for the growth of the category on a national level.”

The Duryea Downhil is a season opening mountain bike festival with tons of spectators, give aways, entertainment, Saturday night activities and a food / beverage court.. You won’t want to miss this event, so please preregister. The field is limited to the first 250 racers and a sell out is expected.
