Yakima has performed some tweaks to their popular HoldUp hitch rack. It can hold up to 4 bikes and attaches cleanly to your hitch mount. Check out the details inside.
The HoldUp is a nice rack and they’ve improved it even further for 2013. It features a tray style system that allows you to quickly secure the bike to the rack with minimal effort and it fits 29″ wheeled bikes better as well now. Often bike racks contact the frame itself but the Yakima HoldUp 2 just contacts your tires so no need to fret over your bike being damaged in transportation.
Out of the box, the Yakima HoldUp hitch mounted rack will hold 2 bikes but can be outfitted to hold an additional 2 bikes with an extra purchase.
The Yakima Ratcheting strap secures the front of the bike and has a few detents. This allows you to secure the bike rack to the wheel easier and doesn’t rely on clamping pressure alone to stay in place.
Yakima has revised the way their locking system works and have integrated this lock into the rack.
This new HoldUp is easier to accommodate 29″ wheels now with the revised arms and slide-able trays. The trays can be moved left-right as you can see in the picture below via 4 allen bolts that allow the tray to move horizontally.
You can tilt the HoldUp away from the car or when storing, you can store the bike rack in a clean / small footprint.
The Yakima HoldUp is available in a 1 1/4″ or 2″ hitch option
