Formula is celebrating their 25th anniversary this year and they’ve got a variety of new things they’ve added to their parts lineup this year as well as some changes to their caliper piston to improve pad rollback, pad retraction and rubbing across the lineup. They’ve added some new wheel options as well as fork models as well. Check it out inside.
Across the range of Formula brakes for 2013, the ECT (Enhanced Caliper Technology) has been implemented to improve performance, pad rollback, and more rotor clearance. They’ve almost doubled it from previous years (see below shot). A new O-ring is also used inside as well.
When it comes to brakes, Formula’s offerings are some of the lightest out there. Formula offers a Titanium upgrade kit across their brakes as well should you want the best of the best.
Formula also has some new pads also this year that utilizes a modified compound from new compound. Notice the new back plate that allows for better contact with the entire piston.
The RO remains at the top of the food chain for gravity enthused riders in the Forumla lineup and all of the same benefits from 2012 carry over still. The main seperator in the Oval brakes is that they use oval pistons in this brake to keep the power up and cooling down. Check out the video we shot to learn more about the RO and speed lock option last year, but keep in mind they’ve added ECT as well this year to the Oval making it even better.

The T1 replaces The One for 2013. The brake remains much the same as last year however the T1 also gets the ECT caliper upgrade as well as a migration of the hose mount to the inside of the caliper. The T1 is aimed to be a brake that can work in most every situation.

To celebrate their 25th anniversary, Formula has created some limited T1 brakes in a special finish.
If you’re more into the lightweight All Mountain /Enduro / XC/Trail setup, Formula still makes the R1 and an R1 Racing setup that includes carbon lever blades, titanium hardware, and kevlar hosing in a super lightweight 264g setup.
In addition to the brake revisions, Formula was showing off their 33 and 35 fork models.
The 33 is intended for XC duty and is available in a QR or 15mm axle option. Travel is adjustable internally and additional details include
• 33mm hard anodized 7000 aluminum stanchions
• Magnesium lowers w/ PM6 brake mount
• FORMULA control closed cartridge damping
7 adjustments + 2 lockout settings
Black or White color option
• FORMULA rebound – 18 adjustments
• Air spring w/ Dual Coil Technology
• HPV (high-pressure valve):
blow off valve prevents damage when fork is locked out
• Polymeric bushings offer low weight and less friction
• Lock Out: crown mounted or remote
• ILS (Integrated Locking System): tool free 15QR axles
• Travel: 26” 85-120mm
Compression damping / lockout
The 35 Series Formula fork takes things a bit further. Available only in a tapered steerer tube the 35mm stanchion fork offers a more robust offering and additional strength for the 29 inch rider.
