For 2012 crankbrothers has reduced weight on their wheels across the board. They’ve also changed the color styling on their wheels with a great two-tone look, new freehub design, and more affordable 2 level products. Check inside to see all the details.
For 2012 crankbrothers have refined their wheelset line. They’ve reduced the weight across the board on all wheelsets to begin, and this was accomplished mostly by their new rim design. They’ve taken their existing rims and machined them down in between the spokes to save weight. They found that material relieved here doesn’t affect the strength or durability of the rim. On the Iodine and Opium this is especially easy to notice because before they had a large rib that ran down the middle of each rim.
Each rim is now anodized black initially and then is machined to take off some weight and then re-anodized with an accent color.
They’ve also integrated a new freehub design in their wheelsets to make them more durable and now offer a 142mm spacing option for some models. Another addition to crankbros lineup is the addition of a lower priced 2 level products.
2012 product release will trickle out from now until June. To see more photos and specs on crankbrothers other 2012 wheels check the gallery.
