Transporting bikes isn’t the easiest of tasks and having a reliable method of transporting your bikes is comforting knowing they’re secure. The HighRoller is a nice upright roof rack tray that definitely tackles a lot of issues with common transportation issues such as speed, ease of use, and adjustability. There wasn’t a bike we had that didn’t work with the HighRoller. Yakima products carry a limited lifetime warranty so you can rest assured they can help you out should anything ever go wrong.
The HighRoller does have its issues though, which were outlined in the issues page. In addition to the specific issues of the HighRoller there are the normal issues of running a roof rack like clearance, lifting/removing bikes off the roof, wind noise on the highway, decreased gas mileage, and overall responsiveness of the car. The nice part about a roof rack is it can be used to carry other things outside of bikes (snow gear, cargo, and water gear). All these issues should be considered when deciding on if a roof rack is right for you.
If you’re looking for more ways to carry your bike, the Yakima HookUp is another great option if you’ve got a hitch mount. Lifting a heavy bike isn’t a fun task and if your only option is a roof rack, the HighRoller system works very well. The rack doesn’t contact your bike, will hold bikes from 20″ - 29″, tires of all sizes (including the big downhill ones), and is easy to load and go, as no parts of the bike need to be removed.
If you have anymore questions feel free to contact Yakima or your local dealer. They’re more than happy to talk to you about their products and find a rack solution that works for you.
