Analysis:
The build quality on the TwoUp TuneUp is top notch. The tubing is all large sized which creates a very stable platform and gives you a sense of security. The central pillar can extend upward to almost seven feet giving you plenty of room to space your bikes. The fit and finish was excellent with each part fitting together smoothly and solidly.

The construction process of the stand is simple and took no time to assemble. The hooks are very solid and have the ability to support a good amount of weight. Be sure to check your bike weight though. Some downhill bikes may be over the recommended 39.7 lb limit. The hooks themselves can be adjusted independently on the hanger, while the hanger itself can tilt up to 30 degrees in either direction on its central axis.

By simply twisting the knob on each hanger you’re able to adapt the stand to hang the bikes at any height you wish. The knobs can then be twisted back to tighten into place. There aren’t any graduations or detents in the central pillar to lock the hanger in place so you need to make sure you have the knob tight.

The bottom hanger protrudes farther from the central pillar than the top hanger in order to clear pedals during repairs. The handlebar stabilizer comes in handy, keeping the front wheel straight and secure. It’s an adjustable piece made of plastic that works well for its purpose. You can move the stabilizer up and down and in and out in order to adapt to any size frame.

When you want to stow the stand or take it with you it can be easily collapsed. The easy to use quick releases lets the central pillar slide inside itself and the legs fold up. This is a nice feature should you need the extra room or want to take it with you. Topeak even added a little bit of grease so the tubes slide easier which is a nice touch.

Issues:
The TwoUp TuneUp was pretty much on the money with its features and functionality. We did find a couple of issues, however.
Mostly universal fit - While the stand is made to fit a wide range of bikes, there are some frame designs that can be complicated to get an easy fit. Our older Turner DHR for instance had some very odd angles and small spaces in the frame. We just found it easier to hook the rear end of the bike and let the front touch the ground. The larger diameter square tubing also doesn’t help seat very well in the hooks as they are designed for more round type tubing.

Hanger twisting – The hangers themselves were very secure and have had no issues with slipping down the pillar. However, they do tend want to spin around the pole sometimes. If you’re working on the repair stand this becomes more evident as you’re applying more sideways torque to the bike. No matter how much we tried tightening the hanger knob we couldn’t stop this from happening.

Conclusion:

The TwoUp TuneUp is a product designed to kill two birds with one stone. It’s able to offer you ample bike storage while also allowing you a simple stand to repair your bikes. On the repair side it might not completely replace a full function repair stand, but it goes a long way at giving you an easy and secure area to work on your bike for light repairs. As for storage it is quite on point to fit most bikes. With fully adjustable hangers and capacity for 4 bikes these features alone make the stand worth a look at if you’re in the market. Having a sturdy and foldable design is the icing on the cake.

It may not fit every bike on the market perfectly and the hangers do twist a bit but these are minor issues in comparison to the total package. You may also want to check your bike’s weight before making the purchase as well. With a 39.7 lb capacity per hanger some DHer’s may be streching the limit.
