Tifosi Optics Q3
Suggested Improvements:
In this section, we’ll highlight some of the things we didn’t like about the Tifosi Q3’s. The sunglasses are a great value but below I’ve outlined some things I’d like changed with the Q3’s.
- The lenses are small and are hard to get inside the body without placing fingerprints all over the lenses. While this seems like a small nuance, it impairs vision and makes changing lenses more of a task.
- The lenses tend to smudge easily and the lenses cloth tends to smear more than clean the lenses.
- It would be nice if they could incorporate removable nose pieces for varying noses and easier cleaning.
- The lenses hydrophilic rubber bits are great, but none of them are replaceable.
- There are no prescription inserts available for the Q3’s.
- The AC Red lenses I had scratched easily even though they were not used much. The other lenses don’t show any scratches so its possible it was just a bad set of AC Red lenses.
- The frame fits snug on my temples and doesn’t induce too much pressure, but they are a bit snug. During extended use, some people might experience some temple pain. I would’ve liked to see a looser feeling while maintaining good grip possibly by increasing the surface area and profile of the hydrophilic temple.
- The few frame edges are a bit sharp and not refined. The way the lenses snap into the frame is not as smooth as I’d have liked and getting the lenses perfectly in there is not the easiest without getting finger prints all over the lens. While the frame has a lifetime warranty, I could see the lens retainer portion of the frame becoming worn if excessive lens changing was done.
- It would’ve been nice if the sunglass screws were fully recessed into the frame.
- Using these glasses as primary high performance cycling glasses probably isn’t the best idea. The Q3’s are a fairly small frame and they don’t have the best peripheral vision.
- If you’re in the drops of a road bike, the top of the frame impairs vision slightly. Since the Q3 is a full frame, looking down you can see the bottom of the frame which again can impair vision and also can cause a reflection on the inside of the lens.
