Straitline Pedals
Improvements:
These pedals are really hard to find any fault with from a functional standpoint so the improvements are ones that would embellish these pedals even more if they could maintain the same quality of a product without comprising what it has going for it already.
- Weight - These pedals weigh in at 530g for the set. They’re not light pedals, nor are they heavy pedals. Weight reduction is something these pedals could stand to benefit from, but it’s hard to refute that some durability might be lost in the process. If they could reduce the weight while still maintaining the same quality product, that would be a vast improvement.
- Keyed allen axle - The end of these axles don’t have a recessed allen head to help assist you in removing/installing them. You use a 15mm pedal wrench to install them and remove them. It’s not necessary to have a recessed allen head on the back side of the spindle, but it would be a nice feature.
- Inclusion of a pin installation tool - Not too many people are going to have a socket this small (3/16″). Including a n installation tool would be of great benefit to making sure the pins are installed, while maintaining their beauty if for nothing more than the first ride.
- Instructions - the included instructions and markings on the pedals have improved a lot since the first version. The instructions could be a little more detailed and clearer in diagrams. The replacement pieces are available at most hardware stores and it would be nice if all replacement part #’s were included to assist for any other replacement pieces. Cleaning instructions could also be included to help users properly clean and maintain their pedals.
- Price - These pedals aren’t cheap. Any way to get these, or some variation of this pedal cheaper to the consumer would be a benefit for not only Straitline, but the end consumer.
- Extra replacement pieces - The packing includes exactly 56 pins and there are exactly 56 pin holes in both pedals. It would be nice if they included extra spare pins and spare parts.
