Smith V-Ti
Sunglass Body:
Smith designed the V-Ti sunglass body to be very flexible in order to fit a wide variety of head shapes comfortably. Smith used advanced materials, which are discussed below, in the construction of the V-Ti in order to offer greater flexibility and keep the weight down. The V-Ti’s fit securely with no problems during our testing.

In order to facilitate quick lens changes Smith created a frame that has a very nice retention system that is easy to use. The sunglasses were engineered for maximum peripheral vision by using a semi-frameless design which wraps around nicely. Even though the lens wraps around, ventilation is still very adequate with just enough to keep the temperatures correct without bothering the eyes with too much turbulence.

- TR90 Grilamid sunglass front – The TR90 Grilamid is a lightweight nylon material used for its flexibility and impact resistance. With the lens out you can see why Smith used this material as it flexes very easily.

- Hydrophilic Megol nose piece and temple pads - The nose piece on the V-Ti’s felt very secure during testing. Smith’s Megol hydrophilic material felt comfortable when dry and adhered well when wet.

- Titanium temple construction – The temples of the V-Ti’s were made from two different titanium materials. Premium grade titanium was used in the temple fronts and a beta-titanium was used in the temple ends. The use of two titanium materials kept the V-Ti’s light, while offering great flexibility for a nice fit. The temple ends themselves were very flexible and we experienced no discomfort even after long periods of wear.
- Interchangeable friendly frame design – The frame of the V-Ti was designed with quick lens changes in mind. The two corners of the lens have notches that secure into the frame. The nose piece and the top of the frame have grooves to support the rest of the lens. We had no problem making quick lens changes due to the simplicity of the design.
