Weight:
The Cycle-On Pro with receiver attached weighed in at 47lbs via our Ultimate Support hanging scale.
Dimensions:
- Height when deployed - 7″ (measured from the receiver arm to tray deck level)
- Length when deployed - 32″ (how far behind your car the rack sticks out)
- Width when stowed - 77″ (arms fully retracted)
- Distance between hitch pin and front wheel hoor when stowed - 10.5″ (bumper clearence)
Adjustability:
The adjustability of the Cycle-On Pro was very handy. We tried out a lot of different bikes with this rack and none of the test cases had any trouble. Due to the ratcheting arms and universal trays each bike was able to receive a secure fit. Being able to 20†bikes was a nice thought when you want to bring along kids bikes or a dirt jumper.
Construction quality:
The construction quality of the Cycle-On was as expected. The tubing used was large and the welds were clean. Adequate bracing was used in key areas. Side to side flex was minimal even under heavy loads. The hardware given for installation was all of ample size and quality. Saris used plastics in non-critical areas to keep the weight down. The plastics were made of thick durable material and we saw no reason to think that they would not last the duration of ownership.
Form and Function:
The form and function of the Cycle-On is one of its highest selling points. The rack is extremely easy to load and unload. The time involved is minimal due to the ratcheting design and quick adjustability. Simply fold up the arm to the correct height and then push down on the top to secure the front wheel. For the rear wheel just slide the cuff to the correct location and then rotate it down over the wheel to secure it in place.
When not in use the rack is just as easy to get up and out of the way by removing the clevis pin and then rotating the rack upwards replacing the pin in the correct location. The hitch itself actually provides an easy area to thread the locking cable through in order to protect your bikes and the rack (note the key shaped hole).
