Oakley Radar

Sunglass Lenses:

The Oakley Radar lens comes in a variety of shapes and color tints to help tailor the Radar’s to just about every situation. For our review we used the Range lens in Black Iridium and the Path in Blue Iridium. Both lens performed well during our testing and worked well for different lighting conditions.

The Black Iridium lens is designed to be used for sunny conditions. The light transmission of the Black Iridium lens is 10%. It blocks sunlight very well when conditions are very bright and the Iridium coating helps to keep the glare at a minimum. We found the Range lens to be a little large for smaller faces or those that like a shorter lens. Choosing the Path or Pitch lens shape would be a better choice for those in that category.

The other lens we tested out was the Path lens in Blue Iridium. The Blue Iridium lens has a very striking look and performs well in medium to bright conditions. It has a light transmission of 15% and utilizes Oakley’s contrast enhancing VR28 tint. The Path lens shape fit smaller faces really well and works well for those that like shorter lenses.

The Radar comes in 3 lens sizes/styles

Check Oakley’s site for the available tints for the Range, Pitch, and Path lenses. They have a wide selection of tints that work for a lot of different applications and lighting conditions.

Hydrophobic Lens

The lenses have a permanent coating on the lenses that help them to repel fluids in order to keep the lens clean of debris and smearing. You can see below in the videos how the hydrophobic lenses repel water, and a permanent marker. Clarity is crucial and the hydrophobic lens should help out a lot once the conditions turn ugly.
