e.thirteen Super Spider

written by J.V. Nixon

Introduction:

e.thirteen components are known world wide and for good reason. They build arguably the best chainguides out there. Their first focus is to make the guide work as best as it can and secondly create a lightweight product.

While they’re known best for their chainguides, they’ve also created a variety of other products that often get overshadowed by the chainguides. One such product is the e.thirteen Super Spider.

Background:

e.thirteen components is a small, rider-owned and operated company that strongly supports dozens of grassroots races, series, contests and other riding events all over the world every year. Founded in 2001, e.thirteen’s innovative, functional, simple and lightweight chain retention systems have made them a world leader in this category, and the choice of top pro and amateur riders and mechanics alike. They support a worldwide distribution network and take great pride in offering devoted customer service.

Who this product is aimed at:

There are those people who love 3 piece cranks. Whether its Profile, Deity, or some other brand, three piece cranks are very popular among people who demand their products to take a beating and work day in and out. What the Super Spider does is allow you to run standard standard 4 bolt 104/64 BCD chainrings on three piece cranksets with a 3/4″ spindle.

The Product:

The Super Spider is a clean and solid piece that is designed well. At 113g, it’s pretty lightweight for a spider and by using a standard 104/64 BCD chainring pattern, it makes fitting a chainring or chainguide very simple. The Super Spider is made out of 6099 T6 and is stiff and durable.

How well does it work?

The e.thirteen Super Spider works as advertised and was easy to set up. It held the chainring on perfectly and has a nice clean look to it. It can accept up to three chainrings and can run a Super Charger without any problem. If you’re looking to setup a chainguide on your three piece cranks, the Super Spider makes it easy.
