motionlingo ADEO

Setting up the ADEO

Setting up the ADEO was pretty trouble free. The software works on PC or Macintosh. They’re developing new applications so expect to see more from the motionlingo team that will embellish your experience even more! The initial charging of the ADEO took a little over 4 hours for me and then the green LED changed from solid green (charging) to no LED (charge completed). I configured the software pretty easily and changed a few update settings (you can program up to 3 distinct Update macros).

Updates are customizable and you can custom tailor just about everything your heart desires.

All these updates have a lot of options within them such as the metrics they’re reported in (kilometers, miles, min/mile, etc). Once these options are set you can then select a trigger for the update (Time, Distance, or a Goal). Lastly you select when to hear the update (either time, distance, or a set time or distance). You can even purchase additional voices for the ADEO.

Some examples of Update 1 that I had were:

You can program up to 3 updates in the ADEO (or store more on your computer to transfer over when needed). Each update can include many reports as you can see above and you can scroll through the 3 update modes while using your ADEO. This could be used very well if you were training for a triathlon and wanted to switch updates as you were practicing running and then immediately started biking.

Taking the ADEO outside with headphones plugged into it resulted in a nice clear voice telling me the status of the ADEO and it quickly found the necessary satellies to start tracking my progress. Once the LED starts to blink red, it will inform you that its ready to begin. Satellite acquisition took me roughly 60seconds after I upgraded my Adeo through the optimizer tool on motionlingo’s website. You then select the Start button and begin your workout. The ADEO then begins gathering data and records up to 10 hours of data acquisition. The announcer comes through in a clear voice and gave me the updates I had set above during my ride.

Some key features while using the ADEO in the field:

The ADEO after the workout:

Once your workout is complete, this is where the fun comes begins. You plug the ADEO back into your computer and navigate to the Get Updates. The software will quickly pull the data off the ADEO and let you analyze it to your hearts content. Once that is done you will see workouts on a calendar (you can browse old workouts and keep track of total mileage and other pertinent data).

As you can see from the screen capture above, you can scroll through workouts you did that day. The one above is a drive to test out the ADEO’s capabilities at speed. You can quickly see the distance traveled, average speed, and the peak pace. The graph can be expanded and is shown below to show speed over time or elevation over time.

Clicking to view your workout online allows you to view a google map of your route and more data that can be analyzed once you setup an account (which is free) on motionlingo’s website. Below you can see a GPS map it generated while I had the ADEO in my pocket building a small trail. It was fairly wooded and the ADEO never lost a beat.
