A modest beginning

The Devinci Company was founded in 1987. The project began with the vision of a mechanical engineer and an industrial designer. At that time, aluminium bicycle frames were hand-crafted in small quantities. In 1990, our President, Félix Gauthier, saw the potential of this small company and decided to buy it in order to develop it to full capacity. For 2 years, Félix Gauthier worked at establishing an industrial manufacturing process that would lead to larger-scale bicycle manufacturing. During this period, many tools and equipment specific to the manufacturing of aluminium frames were developed at Devinci. It is in 1993 that the company redesigned by Félix Gauthier began its commercial adventure. Devinci bikes, virtually unknown to that point, became available in a few specialised shops around the province of Quebec.

The birth of research & development (R&D)

In 1994, the research and development division was created, established by Erick Auger, mechanical engineer and bike enthusiast. Several innovative ideas followed: Optimum frames, Ollie Freeride bikes, and the Cx and instrumented bikes. The R&D Division takes advantage of leading edge automotive and aeronautical industry design methods. Today, the R&D division can count on the talents of 5 engineers and technicians.

In full growth

In 2001, Devinci moved to a larger, more modern plant to be able to deal with ever growing demand for their bikes; the Devinci distribution network is now Canada-wide. The reputation of Devinci bikes was spread by word of mouth, by cyclists who were satisfied and proud to own a Canadian-made bicycle. Despite the size of the company, Devinci is now considered a major player in the bike manufacturing industry. Devinci just keeps on growing; nothing seems to be able to curb its expansion.
