Rock Shox Coil Totem
Conclusion:
The two step’s (lyric and solo air) have seen some scrutiny and issues but the coil versions seem to be trouble free from all the long term reports I have read. Sram has taken customer service and warranty to the next level and you can be assured you’ll be taken care of if an issue arises.
The Coil Totem is supple, smooth, and performs as well as any fork that I’ve ever used. When setup, the fork doesn’t bottom out easily and handles anything from square edges to chatter as good as any fork i’ve felt.
The Coil Totem can be tuned to a variety of riding styles and would work well for a downhiller, freerider, or trail rider. The weight of these 2007 forks are amazing, and its great to see the weights going down, and build quality and performance going up. The coil Totem at roughly 6.5 pounds is hard to beat pound for pound. Its stiff, supple, and is easy to dial in. The question you have to ask yourself if you’re buying this fork is: will a cheaper fork fit your needs. At roughly $1000 retail there’s a lot of forks that might fit your needs just as well and cheaper.
