MRP Interbike 2008
MRP has had a successful 2008 product and racing season. With laundry list of top team riders like Steve Peat, Josh Bryceland, and Brian Lopes to name a few, MRP is helping top athletes perform at the top levels of the sport. Always looking for ways to improve their products for 2009 MRP has added a few new options to their lineup as well as some revisions to current models.

The most unexpected product to see at the MRP booth was their Boxxer direct mount stem. The rear of the stem is wider and beefier and narrows as it comes forward towards front which should make for a stiff interface. It features a 31.8mm clamp with adjustable positions of 45mm, 50mm, and 55mm to dial in the length. The claimed weight is 150g with all hardware and is made in the USA at their Grand Junction, CO facility.

MRP had several of their chainguides on display for people to look at. We’ve already taken a look at their G2 and XCG products a while back and were impressed with the features they had to offer. For 2009 their newest chainguide is a smaller version of the G2 called the Mini-G. It is a 32T-36T specific chainguide with mounts available for ISCG, ISCG-05, and Bottom Bracket. It comes in at a claimed weight of 220g.

The System 3 chainguides were on display in their many flavors. The Podium model now uses the Party Crasher Lite (seen below) to lower the weight of this chainguide down to 260g. Other System 3 models have been updated with a revised Party Crasher which is able to work with Shimano’s Saint and SLX cranksets.

The Party Crasher Lite is a lighter weight bash guard with pockets cut into the back to save weight. It is 2009 Saint and SLX compatible with a additional relief on the inside for proper mounting.

The Long Range Patrol dual chainring guide has been redesigned. It is a 36T max chainguide that has mounts for just about any type of bike. It features the new Party Crasher Lite as well as chamfered edges (like the XCG) to prevent the chain from dropping inside the guide. It will come in at 235 grams complete.
