Interbike 2007:

Chris King Interbike 2007

For 2008, Chris King has got a lot of new parts that have anticipatively come to fruition! The big news for you guys is outlined below.

Chris King has added a 1.5″ NoTreadset headset that just looks stunning. The colors are classic Chris King style, but with a new touch. The King logo on these new 1.5″ headsets are softer and not quite as invasive as the other King products. This new King finish is referred to as Sotto Voce (Italian for soft voice)

Chris King headsets come in the following colors:

The warranty is still the same great 10yr warranty and runs on some upgraded bearings made directly at Chris King. They increased the amount of balls (to 32) typically found in bearings of this size as well so expect it to be King smooth. The baseplate is stainless steel and King has opted to use an adjustable PreLoader (headlock) instead of the typical starnut setup which includes multiple base plates to fit whatever fork you might have.

So what about those of you who have a 1.5″ headset, but run a 1 1/8″ headset? King has got a Devolution baseplate and bearing cap insert to let you run a 1 1/8″ fork in their 1.5″ headset. Sweet.

The NoThreadset will retail for 169.00 MSRP and includes the Preloader. The PreLoader weighs in at 85g, and the 1.5″ headset is 230g for a total system weight of 315g.

There’s more too… King also has got an ISO 150mm x 12mm Rear hub! 336g, available in all the same King colors as the 1.5″ headset. 32h or 36h. 5yr warranty. 369.00 MSRP Steel drivesheel available for 399.00 MSRP. 72pt engagement, and their tried and true ring drive setup.

If you recall Ventana makes an adapter for bikes that needed a little more clearance (with new dials being added to the top of the forks). King now makes a tall baseplate to solve this issue themselves. It’s compatible with all models of Chris King headsets in 1 1/8 so you can increase the clearance should your fork not clear the downtube.

King also updated their Single Speed hub since the market is now seems to be set on the standard ISO / 6bolt setup. It now has their standard ISO mounts instead of the adapter of yesteryear. Check out Chris King’s website to see their green facility and what they believe in.
