Interbike 2006:

Bionicon

Bioconn is a relative new player in the US mountain bike market. They have a strong European prescence and are looking to introduce their innovative products to a new audience.

What makes Bionicon different from other bike companies is the ability for their bikes to change suspension attitudes. With a flip of a switch their machines change from a full on downhill setup to a hill climber. Their bikes are able to change their head tube angle by up to 6 degrees. This allows the rider to have lax geometry for stability and shifted center of gravity and at a moments notice change the entire feel by moving to a more upright position for climbing.

If you have a chance to ride one of those, try them. Fantastic feeling, quick geometry change without U-Turning or screws. Nice service too.

Yeah, I got to ride one of their bikes at the Outdoor Demo. Very impressive. It handled really well, climbed effortlessly, and was plenty stable going downhill. The adjustable geometry worked really well. I thought these guys had the most impressive product at the show, and definitely the most innovative.

I just wanted to say thanks for the great write-up on your site. Interbike was a blast this year and the response to the bikes was incredible. Riders are begining to understand the true benefits of adjustable geometry and suspension. It allows you to explore so much more terrain and enjoy every pedal stroke. Keep an eye out for Bionicon! We will continue to travel the west riding with everyone we can. Contact us if you have a great trail or group ride we should know about. http://www.bionicon.com or mic@bioniconus.com

Rode the Super Shuttle at Downieville Classic this weekend. This bike is the answer to the age old compromise hardcore trail riders have battled with since suspension hit MTB. This bike with a Gravity Dropper seat post is pure stoke! Nowhere else to go if you want the best trailbike ever. This is my next bike!

Demo’d Rode the Edison II up on Mammoth Mtn over Labor Day weekend, I pedaled it up, great results for the effort input with the frame geometry, and absolutely loved it when you drop the rear end, and extend the front end travel to 6″ for the downhill portion, on the fly! Very innovative, not a gimmick, it works!

Love the triple forks /suspension package. Only thing it needs is brakes that don’t squeak, probably something as simple as backing plates for the brake pads with anti squeal adhesive between the two, just like on my Passat TDI disc brakes all the way around.
