What kind of riding do you do? Do you mind doing maintanace on your parts? What rear shock is on your bike?
If you're looking for some set and forget it cranks, Saint's are a good option. If you want something a little lighter but still strong look at the Hone double crankset (it has steel pedal inserts and washers). Lastly if you're smooth and don't bang pedals much, you might be a ble to get a way with something like a shimano xt crankset.
FSA makes good cranks as well, but they're not made quite the same and I've had good luck with Shimano cranks personally.

mainly freeride but still have to get to the top of the hill so dont know about the single chainrign upfront. maintainance wise i dont mind getting hands dirty. the bike is basically stock 07 stinky with fox van r shock, marzocchi drop off forks. Just wanted upgrade ideas.
thanks mate

for your size / weight the slight weight penalty of a Saint HT2 crankset setup is ideal...cranks are an area of the bike I don't mind having a slightly heavier, stiffer setup and Saint is well proven for durability, just make sure you face the b/b shell and get the spacing setup correct, and check the nylon pre-load cap after a couple of rides as the cranks "settle" and can come slightly loose
the fork is a tougher one, you may have good results with the 888RV which is available around GBP£450, and is good for suspension tweaking using oil weights and heights, however it won't perform the best at the highest speeds or in the braking bumps / gnarl / chunder
if you want a top of the range fork like the 888RC3 or Boxxer you unfortunately gotta pay top $$$
if your budget is limited, try something in the budget single crown range like Rockshox Domain 318 (which has the motion control damper from the boxxer) it will blow your Marzocchi Drop-Off fork out the water!! and only about £320-350 in UK, with compression and rebound adjustment
