2014 Alpinestars Bionic Neck Support Updates – Pro and Tech Carbon

2014 Alpinestars BNS Pro

Alpinestars’ popular Bionic Neck Support  (BNS) Brace has seen some major tweaks for 2014 that allow the brace to install easier, give better comfort, offer a wider range of fitment, and more.  The BNS is available in two flavors, Pro, and the Tech Carbon.  Watch the video inside and learn more about the new BNS braces from Alpinestars.

There are a lot of additional shots of the brace we’ve put in the Gallery. So be sure to check that out.

Both the BNS Pro and the BNS Tech Carbon pack many of the same features so things like the safety, adjustability, and magnetic closure are the same across the BNS family. The new BNS is sculpted quite a bit and it has won design awards as well which isn’t a small feat for a neck brace. While some discussion about which neck brace is best, be it Leatt or Alpinestars can be had for ages, the underlying point that most everyone seems to agree on is that using a brace is better than no brace. Alpinestars’ BNS brace is designed to work with your helmet to reduce the risk of a severe neck injury by helping to reduce the chance of compression on impacts.

New BNS comparison

The new BNS offerings from Alpinestars are lighter, wider, are more comfortable, are easier to adjust, and install/remove with ease thanks to a new magnetic closure system.

The width is bigger on the new BNS. In addition, the adjustment pads are much more comfortable as the previous ones were quite firm. The BNS has multiple velcro pads (5mm / 10mm) to help you get the right fit.  The pads have a bit of lycra on them as well and aid in additional comfort and fit as well.

Alpinestars redesigned the closure system so there’s no fumbling about trying to latch a buckle style latch as it is now magnetic.  Watch the video above to see it in action.

The new removable spine protector makes it easier for EMT to remove the protector. In addition to the brace being easy to remove, all of the parts are replaceable as it’s built on a modular design. They’ve also sculpted the spine more but it is still designed to break away in the right scenarios. The new BNS is shorter and fatter in comparison to the previous BNS.

Lower, wider, more sculpted, and an easier to remove plate

The BNS is now more adjustable than ever. They include various chips to not only help you get the right fit but to ensure that the dealer has everything you need on the first visit. The size range used to be 5 sizes, but now they’ve been able to reduce this to 2 sizes (XS-M / L- XXL) as each brace comes with chips to allow you to change the sizing easily.

BNS Pro

The BNS Pro is designed to help prevent injury in a crash situation by dissipating and diverting impact forces away from the neck and spine. The BNS Pro functions when the rider’s helmet makes contact with the frame at the moment of a crash, thus providing a clean, solid surface which instantly channels damaging, compressive impact energy away from the neck and on to the BNS. Primarily for use in motocross and off-road riding this protection device offers a highly personalized and stable fit while incorporating innovative new features such as a new quick release locking system. Thanks to its advanced material construction the BNS Pro is lightweight and strong.

BNS Tech Carbon

Engineered to help prevent neck injury and minimize the risk of collateral damage, the Bionic Neck Support (BNS) Tech Carbon is constructed from an advanced carbon polymer for optimized frame strength and lightweight performance. The BNS Tech Carbon functions when the rider’s helmet makes contact with the frame at the moment of a crash, thus providing a clean, solid surface which instantly channels damaging, compressive impact energy away from the neck and on to the BNS. Featuring a host of award-winning design innovations, such as a quick release locking system and a rear stabilizer offering critical protection to the spine, the BNS Tech affords a highly customizable, secure and comfortable fit for all forms of off-road riding.
