Tyler over at Twenty6 Products has finished CNC’ing replacement levers for the Avid Elixir brakes. All of the Twenty6 Products are machined in his Bozeman, MT facility. The Twenty6 Elixir levers like Tyler’s other replacement levers offer some CNC styling as well as some tweaks to the levers.
These aftermarket levers are positioned a little bit differently than the stock Elixir lever. It makes the brake bite a little differently, as the lever is pivoted further away from the bar than the stock lever.
I’ve got pretty big hands and I found that the stock Elixir R had to be adjusted all the way in to bite where I liked them but that meant that the lever was very close to the bar. The Twenty6 dualie levers position the lever further outward giving additional clearance from the grip, which is nice if you are after this. If you like to have your brakes actuate close to the bar but don’t like the levers pushed in close to the grip these might be what you’re after. This setup change is easy to solve with the Elixir CR as the bite point is externally adjustable, but with the Elixir R this is not externally adjustable.
If you’ve got smaller hands and need the levers close to the bar, you may want to try these out before buying to make sure you are comfortable with the extended lever position.
