Oh, man. that urban riding scares me. I wouldn’t want to do one of them. Concrete is so very hard. But that’s why they make the big bucks.

  • This is an absolutely brilliant series, well worth obtaining on a DVD (HINT). Maybe then can I demand a refund for that manure that was MADE. Made me want to puke at the money I wasted. Dont get me wrong, the riding in made is always awesome, but the editorial aspects are just staggeringly boring and does no justice whatsoever to the skills of the rider. Some might counter that it was a first attempt. Sure, but then why all the damn hyper. The trailer for Made was it’s shiniest achievement. Everything else just faceplanted.
and as Made is bad, Dirt TV’s Finally absolutely rocks!
Just not stoked for the SC Syndicate team response when Sam Hill crashed. That was just bloody cold. Same for Brownie (atherton manager). Win at all costs shall we? Sorry guys, definitely not impressed. Sure Hill can hand out some lip once in a while (re: F1rst, Sam Hill’s post race interview and something about laffing at everyone with their dry tires on).
But that is not the same has showing a lack of concern for your fellow competitor when he takes a fall that could easily have cost him his life. I guess when Sam Hill is that far ahead of the curve, where he can still qualify first (andorra 2009) even though without a chain for 3/4 of his run, other’s either are inspired to do better, or win at all costs. SC Syndicate team remind me of the latter.

That rant aside, Finally is absolutely awesome and i cant wait for further releases!

    • A DVD would indeed be great but online and free is stellar. Possibly the best free online mtb movie yet! Puts a lot of the paid ones to shame.

Have you watched 3Focus? Great flick there if you haven’t seen it (albeit older now -2008 season).

On the surface it may seem as if they don’t care but I still think they do feel for their competitors when they go down but it is the nature of the game. For example if a person gets hit in football, until the opposing person appears down and can’t get back up no one is expected to show immense concern for them.

To get a win on the WC circuit is a tight battle and its hard to judge their outer demeanor as their inner feelings in the heat of the moment. If in an post race interview they had said I’m glad Sam Hill went down hard or i’m glad XYZ took themselves out for the next three races, then I’d say that is a bad sign.

Try not to discredit anyone trying to bring us more mtb content as there aren’t a lot out there to begin with. The same way you’re upset about others attitudes when a rider has a bad experience should apply here too. You never know what a negative comment can do to someone. Better to remain with positive criticism (in all aspects of life) as that helps motivate them to do better.

      • hahaha. dont get me wrong in that I would pay for it. I would, but I absolutely delight in the fact it’s free and in damn good quality too! Havent seen 3Focus, but will give it a gander. Props for the recoms.

I get what you suggesting about judging the response from their outward expressions, but a big crash like that is quite visceral. Also the cam footage cut away before Sam got back up and back onto the saddle. so they had no idea of Sam’s condition. Kathy Sessler’s face however brief it held that look of concern, was what I was expecting. Maybe Peaty could only think of beating Vouilloz’s record, who knows. As Peaty said, Sam crashing was an even better present.

Anyway, what’s the release frequency for episodes of Finally? Since there were 8 WCs + 1 World Champs, and since they cover two WCs in one release, i reckon at least 5 episodes?

        • Yea I understand what you’re saying.

That footage that you “saw” was actually a youtube video and was not part of the live feed. You can see the jaggies around the video/overlay where they put it on the monitor if you pay close attention.
          http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K3BfHZzV36o

No one saw it that was at the base. THe only indicator on the monitor would’ve been the spectator response from the top of the jump he scrubbed. That’s why Greg Minnaar walks over to Peaty and says “Sam just had a crash”. They (video editors) put that in (and quite well) but it wasn’t part of the feed they saw at the bottom of the hill.

The only thing that they could’ve seen would’ve been Sam scrubbing the top of that first drop from the backside and then hearing that he had went down after it. You can see the replay of what they would’ve seen ( http://freecaster.tv/mtb/1008039/nissan-uci-mtb-world-cup-dh-andorra ) .

Peatys comment about Sam Hills crash was a better present was made after Hill was found out to be OK. If Sam hill were in the hospital from that crash and he said that, then I’d agree with you. The week before, when Peaty won Sam Hill said that he gave Steve Peat a present (baby shower) in jest. It was just meant to be a small rib between competitors I feel.

I’m unsure of how many they’ll do but there are other races besides the WC ones that will show up. We’ll see!

lol.. detective holmes I presume? That screen behind the hotseat really didnt look like a youtube clip overlay, but now that you’ve pointed it out so well, I would have to agree :) Props again.

btw: had a look at the trailer to 3Focus and it looks awesome!

    • Ha. I wasn’t planning on writing all that but you baited me. :D
