GoPro Firmware Update Available
A lot of users have the GoPro 5MP helmet camera and we’ve been alerted of a free update that you better take advantage of. If you’ve got aGoPro, make sure you get the firmware update they have deployed that will make your videos even better!
- Improved auto exposure processing to help in extreme bright lighting conditions (like snow covered slopes)
- Allows GoPro 5MP camera to record to larger SD cards (up to 8GB) and you can now record up to 4GB in one file.

The Contour is certainly good but if you’ve got a GoPro, why not get it updated for free
Thanks for the mention. The ContourHD is definitely a nice camera but users of GoPro have been waiting a long time for this update. Now GoPro users can extend the life of the camera and they have way more recording headroom; much less chance of running out of space during a shoot.
Having said that, the GoPro HD Helmet Hero is coming out soon. Check out our preliminary review here.

Have they said when they plan to release the HD camera yet?
Supposed to be October (10-25) but we’ll try to find out more as it gets closer.
GoPro is saying November. We’re a retailer and put the over/under at Jan. 15 (we’re taking the over!). I’d be happy to send you an email when it is available, just send a note to GoPro-HD@IcePlanter.com.
