FOX Racing Shox sent along some details on a new fork that they’ve been working on for 2010 called the FOX32 831 FIT RLC.  Read the details inside.

FOX Racing Shox is proud to announce the 831 Suspension Fork. Designed and engineered for the demanding disciplines of 4X, Dirt Jump, and Dual Slalom, the 831 uses the FOX 32 mm platform, FLOAT® Air Spring technology, and FIT™ RLC damper.

The 831’s FIT RLC damper is specifically valved with firmer high-speed compression damping and new low-speed compression needle and circuit, to increase pedal efficiency when sprinting out of the start gate and absorbing large jump landings. The FLOAT air spring has been designed to add more progression, to push back on the rider during high cornering loads. Travel is factory set at 100 mm, and is internally adjustable from 80 to 120 mm in 5 mm increments for optimal crown-to-axle height tuning. The chassis has increased stiffness at this travel due the use of FOX’s longer travel chassis components normally found on the 32 FLOAT, TALAS®, and Vanilla® forks.

Like all FOX Racing Shox products, the Race and Engineering team worked with their top athletes to develop a fork specifically for their needs. “We’re constantly working with our athletes to find every advantage possible. With the 831 we developed a fork for our amazing 4X and Dirt Jump athletes that is lightweight, yet still offers the FOX performance, stiffness and steering precision they are accustomed to,” stated Mark Fitzsimmons, FOX Race Manager. The 831 was developed and tested during the 2009 season using the 2009 4X World Cup Champion Jared Graves, riders Cameron McCaul and Dan Atherton, and the 2009 Crankworx Dual Slalom champion Kyle Strait.

For riders interested in purchasing the 831, placeholder orders will be accepted beginning 8/31, for shipment on November 16.

Retail price is $831.

  • I like! I want one!

  • What DJ runs a 1.5 taper?

  • No 20mm, no care.

  • 15qr?
i dont see the point in this new standard, and really dont see the point in putting it into a 4x fork..

  • I would MUCH rather have a 36 Float… 32mm stanchions and the qr15 don’t really make much sense to me…

  • No 20mm axle option?

That’s going to irritate a lot of people.

  • 15QR? Wrong!

The use of area codes to name products is getting cheesy and very unoriginal. Pricing it to match is even worse.

    • I wish a 951 was only 951 bucks!

i agree whats the deal with the 15qr? i would buy it right away if they had 20qr. also it would be cool to see a new stanction size inbetween, maybe like 34mm? they could have done alot better i think

  • Weak. 15mm kills it for sure. Fox has really fallen off in the last few years. Their poor customer service just seals the deal. See ya Fox.

  • was about time Fox made a more agressive fork below the 36. the 15QR screw it all but maybe they don’t want to affect 36’s sales

  • Have any of you tried 15qr? Maybe I am going to try this fork on my next park build. but the 32mm stanchions is a strange choice. I tried to put a f90 on my street bike just for fun, but its way to flexy.

  • 15QR, and now the 142mm rear wheel spacing!!! what is going on? just making something so that we have to fork out our hard earn cash for something that we dont actually need? This is really lame. The 20qr is working fine and how much weight loss does the 15qr have to offer? $831 for 831…..i dont think so!

  • i would like to try one of these.. but true, a 20mm axle would be a good choice, what’s the currency for the price?

    • currency is in USD

that fork is dope…nothing wrong with a 15 qr,its 20% less strong then a 20mm axle…15 mm just sucks because not every hub company makes a 15mm axle…but i think this fork is focus on 4x more than like a slopestyle fork or something that well be completely beaten on…but it would definatly be sick for dj’s and 4x…

  • 20 mm axle please.

  • PS. I’d enjoy more bang for my buck and quite frankly, a small drop in weight is significantly less important than a small drop in price. Besides, the value of a dirt jump fork lies largely in its strength, something that will not come from smaller hubs and axles. Re-do it with 36 stanchions, a 20 mm axle and…..Oh shit, that’s my lowered 36 van r. Nevermind….. just call it a slalom fork and be done with it.
