Point One Racing has used the knowledge they gained from creating their Split Second 50mm stem in order to create a new 70mm stem designed for All-Mountain riders. Check inside for more info.

The Split Second 70 is aimed at All-Mountain riders looking for a lightweight stem that still offers exceptional stiffness.  The wide clamping area helps in facilitating a strong interface for a stiff setup.  With riders using wider and wider bars these days, some older generation stem designs can fall short in providing enough stiffness given the additional leverage wider bars bring along.

Key features of the Split Second 70:

  • Made in the U.S.A.
  • 70mm length

  • 31.8mm bar clamping diameter

  • 1 1/8″ steerer tube

  • Zero degree rise

  • The integrated top cap works well at giving a clean final look, a slightly lighter overall setup, as well as helping them offer some additional stiffness according to Point.  Your fork will have to be cut down which will certainly be a setback to some who like to keep them fork longer for resale or adjustment options down the road.

The Point One Split Second 70 stem is available for purchase directly from Point through their website or any of their dealers. The Point One 70mm stem is clean, works in harmony with wider bars, and is lightweight to boot.  The little things help bring this stem up to the front of the class by recognizing improvement areas where other stems fall short.  Point One strives to create parts that improve your ride.  They seek to deliver better designs in areas which others might overlook or think trite. If you’re running wide bars on your all mountain bike and experience your current stem flexing, the Point One stem might be just what you’re after. Look to see this stem used soon on our Transition TransAM Project.

Point One makes sick shit but they alienate too much of the market. They make a great DM stem… if you run boxxer standard. If not, tough titties… They make a great standard stem… if you run 1 1/8″ head-tube. If not, tough titties…. Ditto for their spacers and caps. They basically have three products presented as thogh they’re five different products.
