As usual, the 2009 U.S. Open was full of thrills and spills. The Pro finals were brought to a climactic conclusion as a thunderstorm rolled through just as the close of the last Am riders were making their runs. Not sure exactly why anyone even shows up to race Steve Peat at Lisbon. He owns the course. For the 8th straight year Peaty takes the win at Lisbon’s downtown downhill race. Kathy Sessler has a full report on the weekends events inside.

They’ve changed the course slightly for the U.S. Open. A few areas are taped tighter than in years past, a new step up and berm have been added as well as a reworked final field section. While walking the course we GPS’d the route so that we could give everyone an idea of the elevation drop and satellite imagery of the event. Check out the link to see what the course looks like from above and how the terrain varies as riders progress to the finish.
