Site Update: New Layout and New Features

Site Update

We haven’t given Sick Lines a major face lift since our inception.  We’ve been considering various elements we’ve wanted to implement in our minds throughout the years.  We decided it was time for an updated design to freshen the look and feel of the site but also add some new elements to embellish content display. Check inside to find out more info on the changes.

Layout Change:

We changed our layout a bit from a 3 column layout to a simpler 2 column layout. This allowed us to gain more real estate in both the main content section of the site as well as the sidebar. The larger content section will allow us to have greater creativity in delivering content, offer wider videos, and larger pictures. The central single sidebar is also helpful for quicker navigation.

At this point we have most of the bugs worked out of the layout but a few still may linger.  If you see any dead links or things out of the ordinary please feel free to contact us to get it cleared up.

Comments RSS:

You can now subscribe to a Comments RSS feed if you want to keep up to date with who is saying what on the site.

Threaded Comments:

Another nice added feature to the site is Threaded Comments. Now you can reply directly to someone else’s comment like a standard message board.

Contests:

We plan on doing more frequent monthly contests in order to give back to our loyal readers and let them get their hands of some nice gear. Requirements for the contests are never hard so there’s no reason not to apply. Check out our April chainguide giveway.

A few areas that haven’t changed but we still want to highlight are Gallery features and how to Get Connected.

Gallery:

This area contains all of the pictures we’ve taken from various events, reviews, and other coverage. It is updated regularly with new pictures. Once you register you can upload your own pics and be notified when a gallery section is updated by clicking Subscribe to Gallery at the bottom of the gallery page. You can also search the gallery for specific photos you’re looking for using the Search bar. Emailing your friends a gallery or link you like is easy as well with the simple form at the bottom of the gallery page.

Get Connected:

The area is for those who’d like to get connected with Sick Lines via other popular web portals. We update our Facebook profile from time to time with spy shots of upcoming article pictures as well as tag event pictures. You can also sign up for our Newsletter and RSS feeds or follow us via Twitter.
