Preview: e.thirteen SRS+ 2009 2010

For 2009 e.thirteen components is introducing some redesigned chainguides as well as more affordable versions of their classic lineup. The SRS and LG.1guides (now SRS+ and LG.1+) are seeing the biggest changes offering lighter weight and unique features. Check inside to find out what the new SRS+ has to offer.
We got to see mockup prototypes of the SRS+ and LG.1+ guides back at Interbike and were very impressed. The production versions don’t disappoint in the least. The fit and finish is very clean with all of the expected features included in the final version.
Box contents:
- Mounting hardware (short and long ISCG bolts, thick and thin ISCG spacer washers)
- Bottom bracket adapter (comes only with ISCG 05 backplate version)
- Backplate (completely assembled)
- Turbocharger bashguard
- Instructions
Features of the new e.thirteen SRS+ chainguide include:
- Alloy hardware
- Adjustable backplates offer narrow, regular, and wide configurations all in one backplate, which allows for easier install and frame compatibility
- Less SKU’s (distributors and consumers can rejoice) because there is no longer the need for multiple backplate options
- Available for ISCG and ISCG 05 (BB adapter comes only with ISCG 05)
- SRS+ is available in two sizes 32t-36t or 36t-40t version. Both feature non-adjustable sliders (helps make install quicker / easier)
- Lots of weight saving features such as CNC cutout pockets and a trus type backplate design
- Honeycombed design overs lower weight, while increasing strength
- Increased backplate width for increased strength
- Tapers on the wearplates are the exact same as the older guides so fitting the guides are a cinch
- The Turbocharger bashguard now has a smaller diameter with two crank arm recesses
- The bashguard is tapered, hollowed, and designed to flex away from the drivetrain vitals
- Aluminum inserts are added at the factory to avoid over tightening of the bashguard bolts.

Will all downhillers bow down and give e.thirteen the chainguide crown with their new lightweight and uniquely featured SRS+? Time will tell. We’ll update our thoughts with it as we get more time on it. If you’re looking to purchase one of these guides, Chad at Red Barn Bicycles can order one up for you at a great price.

Sick!!!
the last pic made me lulz
I would not want to clean that thing after a mud ride. Imagine how much weight that will add to the bike once all that mud packs in.
It certainly is a nice guide. I have the SRS+ in black and the install was as simple as could be.
I had the srs and agree this is better but looks like they took some ideas from gamut. flexing bash and the top piece? hmmmmmmm
So much for sub 200grams.
Lighter, tougher, more expensive?
It is the same MSRP price as the previous SRS was.
any news on them pedals?
They had some delays and want to make sure the pedals are 100% before they launch. They are shooting for summer release.
Will the turbocharger bashguard be compatible with the new 2009 saint cranks? I seem to remember that the saints weren’t compatible with the 2008-previous supercharger bashguards when reading something on here.
e.thirteen says that it will technically work but they advise against it somewhat as it isn’t 100% ideal. An e.thirteen chain ring they say will help the issue because the chainline is closer to the bashguard than with the stock Saint chainring. There is an off chance that something *MIGHT* be able to happen since the Saint cranks are stepped out more. e.thirteen at this time isn’t allowing their pro riders to race on the SRS / 09Saint (m810) setup and are having them use the LG1+ as that is a better setup for the 2009 Saint Cranks. Contact e.13 if you have any questions on compatibility as they can answer these questions better.
I am installing this guide on my Race Face Evolve DH cranks and the chainring bolts are too short. The aluminum inserts are pretty thick. What length bolts do I need? Why the hell didn’t they include the chainring bolts with the product?!?!? It was not cheap.
