Review: Formula ONE Brakeset

Formula ONE
Formula’s the ONE is a brake that rivals cross country brakes in weight and downhill brakes in power. Best of both worlds? See what we thought about the Formula ONE inside with our full review of it.

I thought Greg Minnaar rode for Avid since he’s on the Syndicate? Nice review btw.
Minnaar does now that he is one the syndicate. He was using them before and has his own signature ones (Greg Minnaar edition) that are polished and have GM engraved in them.
I really didnt like these brakes.. I did a ton of research before I bought them too and decided to get them after seeing countless good previews!..
After having to replace the hoses a few times because they were basically made out of cheese, after that the lever-throw adjustments seized and also one of the FCS adjusters wasnt doing a thing!.. For the price these brakes shouldve been much much much more than they were.. Plus who sells brakes these days without hardware or rotors?!? Youd think for 800$CAD youd be getting the full package.. NOPE!
Ive since sold them and got myself a amazing pair of Avid Elixir CR and I can safely say they are the best brake Ive ever ridden! Plus they were only 1/3 of the price that the Formulas cost me!..
I’ve had great luck with these. Rode them for the last 10 months and had absolutely no issues. The adjusters seized up but all that was required was a little lube and they’ve been fine ever since. No issues with the hoses and my boxxer has mashed them countless times against my top tube with no effect.
Oh and Shimano comes to mind as to who sells brakes without rotors. I only paid about $600 when the buck was good.
The avid elixir’s do intrigue me though. To each their own.
Im stoked to hear you’re happy with em’.. Maybe I just got a set that was made on a Friday or a Monday?…
I just wish Formula would put a little more effort in making a product(No bushings or bearings at the lever pivot).. In my opinion Avid and really the whole Sram company tends to think about everything and anything they can do to make a great product even greater!..
best brakes out there!
Formula has it dialed!
