Some Handy Angle Finders

A nice tool to add to a collection is a angle finder. It’s handy to be able to quickly measure angles on a bike for various reasons. Head angle and seat angle are two that an angle finder can determine. See inside for a few good angle finding tools.
The Apple iPhone has an application (Clinometer) that uses the gyro inside it to tell you what the angle is that will only run you 99 cents from the iPhone store. It is accurate to the tenth of a degree an can be calibrated multiple ways. It also offers a bubble mode when laid on a flat surface.

If you don’t have an Iphone, you can get a good digital angle gauge like the Smart Tool Angle Finder ($99) or the Wixy Angle Gauge ($39.99) that are accurate to 0.1 degree. Don’t bother with the cheap angle finders as they are usually accurate to 1 degree or more.
Make sure the bike is on level ground, not tilted, and your angle tool is calibrated properly. To get a more accurate reading measure once, flip the bike 180degrees, re-measure, then average the two.
