Boxxer Direct Mount Stems

With most every fork manufacturer making crowns that fit the Boxxer direct mount standard (Fox, Bos, Manitou, Rock Shox, etc) we have created a quick list of all the one’s we’ve shown on SickLines inside.
Point, Twenty6, Straitline, and e.thirteen (click to enlarge)
Direct mount stems bolt directly to the top of a fork crown and have become more popular for a variety of reasons. The Boxxer direct mount pattern has become the most popular bolt pattern (the 40RC2, new Dorado, BOS, Boxxer forks (Air / Team / Race), etc) and so we’ve chosen to highlight some of the good Boxxer stems out there.

sunline is where its at. its the only stem that gets the bars level with the top crown…which i like.
had any problems with crashing and twisting lowers?
running the sunline on my 40 this year and just wandering if i should be worried
The Sunline does get the bars low (as does the twenty 6). The point stem is actually almost as low (just a tiny tiny bit higher).
I have seen the top crown have to be loosened and re-aligned after a really hard crash but haven’t ever seen any permanent damage as a result of a direct mount stem. Usually in a hard crash the bars are let go of so you’re not putting any pressure on the bars/crowns but if you were to wedge the wheel and then twist as you crash I could see that possibly leading to some damage.
You missed the FUNN direct mount stem. It´s available for quite some time now and includes the option for Titanium bolts. I am running it on my Boxxer for some months and it does an excellent job until now.
I did once crack my 2000 boxxer lowers years back when using a direct mount stem and had a massive crash. got bucked on A-line on one of the bigger jumps and over shot the transition in a nasty nose dive. would have een fine I think if I hadn’t caught the handlebar in the kidney when I hit the deck. it twisted my forks so much that I got a crazy spiral crack in the right stanchion.
saying that, modern forks and the larger diameter stanchions are much stronger, so don’t think it is really an issue now. If it was an issue, then I don’t think companies would sell their forks with direct mount stems in the first place.
seperate question… how many options are there for direct moun stems on 888’s?
Nils, we didn’t go get every single direct mount stem out there so this isn’t a list of every one available.
Keith, that is quite impressive. Remind me to ride in front of you
As far as options, I think you’re limited to a lot less there. Sunline makes one, Twenty6 is working on one. Would be nice if someone made a 888 crown that had the boxxer mounts.
hmmmm maybe I will speak to a certain Greg about that…. good idea!
