Thursday, August 7th, 2008

Twenty6products sent over some of their fresh new aftermarket levers for the Hayes Stroker for us to check out. They’re made in the USA out of Belgrade, MT and have some unique features to them. Check them out inside.
The details of the Twenty6 levers are:
- American made
- CNC machined
- Offer increased stiffness
- Gripped design
- Quicker brake engagement
- Available in 7 vibrant colors
- $74.99 MSRP per pair
You can see more what they look like below. Tyler modified the pivot point slightly to allow for quicker brake engagement. If you’re looking for a brake lever that engages quicker, this might be the lever for you. The feel of the levers is quite nice and offers an improved feel in our opinion.

Gotta love the added modulation of the Twenty6 levers!!! I got them on some Hayes HFX MAGs, and some Formula K24’s- can’t say enough good things about them- they absolutely change the feel of the entire brake over the stock levers. Much easier to brake check during a manual and not “slam” the front wheel back down, and braking going into turns is much more controlled with less chance of skidding.

Your brakes may engage faster, but the modified pivot location is effectively decreasing the leverage ratio of the lever.. you’re going to have to pull harder for the same braking force.
Just eyeballing your side-by-side shot, it looks like maybe the difference is 10%-15%.. Is that really a trade off people want to make?

Greg you said it best- pull harder for the same power- that’s what increases the modulation, because as you dab at the brake lever you are less likely to over brake which is why so many people complain about their Hayes brakes feeling “too grabby”. The harder you squeeze, the harder the brake bites- and trust me there is still PLENTY of power left especially if you run your levers more inboard on your bar to be able to 1 finger brake on the outer edge of the blade. This would be an awesome product to have as a demo for consumers to try out.

why make nice brake levers for shitty brakes??? does it really make any sense to have cool levers and your brakes working like shit?
