Tuesday, July 15th, 2008
NORTH VANCOUVER—Cove Bikes team rider Andrew Mitchell rides away with 2008 Canadian National Championships DH crown at Mte. Ste. Anne Quebec this past weekend.
“I am really stoked for Drew. He has been putting up solid results all year! This is a great result heading into the two Canadian World Cups.”– Gabe Fox, Cove Bikes Marketing Manager
Coming of an impressive 5th place finish at Red Bull Mt. 7 Psychosis the previous weekend, Drew then jumped on a plane a few days later and flew across the country to take home the National Championship title.
In seeding Drew sat 3rd behind local rider Hans Lambert and 2007 National Champion Luke Kitzanuk.
“I took my seeding run mellow. I needed to get everything dialled for my race run.”- Andrew Mitchell said between runs.
In the final Drew opened it up coming down the course 3 seconds ahead of 2nd place finisher Justin Brown and a full 10 seconds ahead of 3rd place local ripper Charles-Alexandre Dube.
“I am really happy to win at Ste. Anne, the track was loose, and there is so much racing history here. It feels great!”-Andrew Mitchell
Next up for Cove riders Andrew Mitchell and Steve Smith are the two Canadian World Cups which start in a few weeks, followed by the Crankworx festival in Whistler.
