I USED TO LIKE SPECIALIZED

Last weekend I had the opportunity to saddle one of these Sallys up in whistler for a day in the bike park. I traded them my 07 Sx trail and hit the lifts. Started it off on a new trail - ninja cougar, super tight run with steep quick berms and some freshly cut rolls to pump. After riding my 07 I definately felt the change in the rear end ! the new SX feel way deeper, and likes to get into its travel alot easier , this made a huge difference on the chunder sections or when i just wasnt riding smooth. I currently ride a medium, so i demo’d a medium. It did feel smaller the way it was set-up. The bike was set up with a front derailleur, and despite my best efforts after 6 laps in the park, couldnt get it to bouce off. Id run it with a chainguide anyhow, but excelent engineering by specialized regarding the chainstay mount front der that moves with the suspension. The fork head angle seemed perfect for everything , even rode the canadian open dh course, wasnt as fast as the boys on the dh bikes, but this bike can handle anything i tossed at it.
I found the bike didnt jump as well with the more plush travel feeling ( both my bike and the test bike had the same spring rate ) but railed corners harder as that rear wheel didnt mind stickin to the ground.
Overall - to sum it up , the new sx had much improved square bump hit performance over the previous years, and felt like a small and much more nimble demo 7.
