George Ulmer sent an update through on the first Canada Cup that took place in Bromont. Practice took place on Saturday, and the race was on Sunday. Geritt Beytgah ended up winning the race for the Senior Elite Men.
10 riders were taken out on strechers during the Saturday practice (beginner - experts) on the steep slick rock section. Due to the open practice setup, pro’s were often running into the slower riders.

The slick rocks proved challenging for all levels of athletes. Geritt Beytagh had a clean run and took the victory for the pro men. Steve Smith crashed during his race run and still managed to get second place.

The course needs some work before the world cup as far as amenities and course length. The track is located on the back side of the mountain so as not to conflict with the water park so resources were somewhat limited.

The Bromont course was a big improvement over past years, it was fun, challenging, and short, all things the old courses lacked. I agree that it is on the short side for a WC, so it will be interesting to see what they might change to make it longer or more challenging. Can’t wait for the WC in August.

[...] Sick Lines featured a short story on Bromont, and the final picture (which was up on the front page on Monday) is Graham White doing the rock-line that pulled 10 or more riders away on stretchers. [...]
