Sam Hill’s 2008 Race Bike

Sam Hill looks poised to be on point again this year on the downhill WC circuit. It should be a great season. Inside are some spy shots of his 2008 race bike that Stefano sent us from the Val Di Sole Worlds Test Event where Hill dominated the Pro field by 5.18s. Tons of prototype goodies on board the Blackbox equipped bikes this past weekend and Hill’s bike was no exception.

  1. The Skreth Says:

What exactly do the blackbox components mean? They are some kind of prototypes from Sram or something?

  2. Rune Says:

the blackbox fork on his bike seems to have 40mm stanchions and the motion control seem to be the one on the totems

  3. GC Says:

38mm is what i’ve been hearing. I’m sure something official will come out soon enough.

Blackbox is just Sram’s test-phase so to speak. Its where parts are born/tested before they become consumer models.  Trickle down effect pretty much.

  4. Steve Says:

    35mm is the rumers…

  5. Andre Says:

Finally some large double crown fork! I ride totem but this one will be differently the suspension I´am waiting for. And the quick release too.

  6. Brendan Says:

It doesnt quite look like 40, more like 38.

The damper definitely looks like the Mission Control damper system - which I really like.

  7. Mirelay Says:

Isn’t it 36mm like the Lyric?

  8. sicklines Says:

    The lyrik is 35mm.

  9. dontkillmesram Says:

I saw these forks in person at santa cruz on Jugz a few weekends back before sea otter. They for sure aren’t 40mm, but anything looks like a toy under rennie. To me it looked like 35mm, it would also make sense b/c rockshox has lots of problems with they bigger seals….

  10. peter Says:

these are definately no more than 35mm… new 888 are 38mm a they look much more beefier than this. I like it, 35 is fine by me. can’t wait to get my hands on one… :)

  11. John Says:

Somebody mentioned a press release on Wednesday, is that just rumors?

  12. Enrico650 Says:

Lets see if they can keep the 6.2lbs or maybe

  13. evs Says:

  17. sicklines Says:

35mm makes more sense. I’ll wait to hear what the official word is before saying for certain.

  18. Karupshun Says:

Littermag has some other spy pics, and confirmed through the creator of this new fork, it’s a 35mm stanchion air sprung fork
