e.thirteen Launches Aftermarket Direct Mount Bashguards
Wednesday, March 5th, 2008
e.thirteen is proud to announce the worldwide aftermarket availability of its direct mount bashguard technology. The pioneering e.thirteen design attaches a “taco”™ bashguard directly to a chain retention system mounting plate. Eliminating the bashguard attached to the cranks reduces chain retention system weight, while offering the bash protection that racers need to compete.
Beyond the product launches for 2008, e.thirteen is delivering video content online through their YouTube channel (http://www.youtube.com/ethirteenvid). In addition to videos of their riders and contributions from videographers like Clay Porter and Don Hampton, mechanics and riders alike will be able to watch installation videos for all of e.thirteen’s chain retention systems.

Look out for more product release and racing news coming soon from e.thirteen. LG1 chain retention systems with direct mount tacos are available from participating distributors, and in several color options to match your bike. 2008 colors include black/clear, all black, and all white. New RPM Orange Limited Colorways LG-1 chain retention systems are also shipping from participating distributors, and additional videos will be added to the e.thirteen website and YouTube page on a regular basis.
e.thirteen components is a small, rider-owned and operated company that strongly supports dozens of grassroots races, series, contests and other riding events all over the world every year. On ethirteens site it says the LG1 plus taco weighs 195 grams but on the weights listed on sicklines it says that only the LG1 without the taco gaurd weighs 231 grams. What is the real weight?

I can’t vouch for the configuration e13 weighed their guides but you can see the ones we’ve weighed in the weight section.
There are many configurations available on e13 lg1 setups and I suspect they weighed an ISCG-05 with a wide backplate which should be lighter than the iscg one.
An LG1 (ISCG) with the wide backplate is 212g vs 231g with the normal iscg backplate. I suspect a wide ISCG05 backplate will be close to the claimed weight on the e13 site.

Good idea, but with the bashguard mounted to the rear bracket, taking a rough enough hit, the whole chain guide rear bracket will shift, I prefer the bashguard mounted to the crank arm, I switched from the LG1 to the SRS
