Gravity East Race Series : Finals Announced

The 2008 Gravity East Series Finals will be held at Plattekill Bike Park in Roxbury NY October 10th-12th, 2008.
Additionally, if you’re a Junior looking to getting to Worlds this year, the winner of the Junior Expert Plattekill Series #1 Downhill race, currently scheduled for May 2-3, 2008 in Roxbury, NY, is an automatic qualification.

The organizers of the Gravity East Series are pleased to announce the selection of the series finale.The 2008 Gravity East Series Finals will be held at Plattekill Bike Park, Roxbury NY on October 10-12,2008. As one of the premier northeast destinations for downhill mountain biking, this is an ideal location to once again host the finals.
Plattekill will be donating $1000 to the series points fund which will bring the points fund to a minimum purse of $5000 to be distributed among the Pro Men and Women categories for the year end series winners. Category series champion jerseys and trophies to all 1st through 3rd place finishers will also be awarded at the finals.
To be eligible for consideration in the overall series points chase – including awards and cash purse – racers must participate in the finals. The finals will also be a double points race.Criteria for series standings will be based on the best six points finishes that will include the finals race.

The points breakdown certainly encourages consistent participation of Pro’s throughout series. The top 5 will likely have to compete at all 8 venues.
The difference between 6-1st wins and 6- 40th (and greater) place is 1200 points total.

Yep good point. Additionally your top 6 races count towards the final score making it potentially even more cut-throat if you’re at the top!
